Do you Haiku? Try It (You Might Like It) for National Poetry Month

Standard

Haiku by Amber

Inaugurated by the Academy of American Poets in 1996, National Poetry Month is now held annually in April, when publishers, booksellers, literary organizations, libraries, schools and poets around the country take part in celebrating poetry and its vital place in American culture. Thousands of businesses and non-profit organizations participate through readings, festivals, book displays, workshops, and other events. This year, check out the Second Annual Freshkills Park Haiku Contest: ideas, impressions, experiences, and thoughts of Freshkills Park in Haiku form.

(After the fact) The second annual Freshkills Park haiku contest is over (sniff). Check out the winners of the adult and student categories over at their blog!
