Bad Math: More patrons should not equal less funding for libraries

More patrons should not equal less funding for libraries. People are taking courses, programs, searching for jobs as well as reading books. In addition to a jump in patronage, many libraries are seeing volunteers increase. Most libraries are the only free Internet source in their communities. Despite all this, libraries face major fiscal budget cuts nation-wide as politicians look for easy targets to demonstrate their frugality. I could spend long hours of my days reading the bad news in local papers and internet sources, but alas, it is too depressing:
